GSI 1st outing

Posted by: zhuzhuyaya on: October 5, 2008

Yap. I been continuous 2 weeks never send ah gon to book in. Cos I always got “dates” with others. LOL… This time is with the lab students and colleagues. Kaiyi suggested Xiang De La Shanghai Cuisine at opposite Parco Bugis, cost about $17.80+ (We paid $22.60).

I think the food here is quite limited. You don’t need to go and “grab” your food as your preference but the service crews give you a stack of order list and pass the order to them, which there is less than 60 items.

*Meatball craving again.

Reuben is trying to save his non-spicy soup from contaminate by the spicy soup!
Nicodemus, Kaiyi, Jaz, Wan Ru, Me, Yi Chao (dunno what he trying to do) and Benjamin

Decided to carry our “10kg” tummy to play pool, hoping can lose some pound. LOL

Look OUT for Butt-Grabbing Monster…

SHOKUTSU-10

Posted by: zhuzhuyaya on: October 4, 2008

Watched 都是大发现, a local variety, on Tuesday night with ah gon and the hosts introducing the Singapore’s First Japanese Food Street: SHOKUTSU-10 and of cos, food always caught our eyes so we decided to visit the place after his second book out, which is yesterday.

Shokutsu 10 Osaka, which cost $5 million to set up, is made up of six different restaurants lined up to form a food street, each with specialty items from Osaka on the menu.

It is modelled after Dotonbori, a famous food street in Osaka, Shokutsu 10 – which means food paradise in Japanese

The 10,000 sq ft space is owned by Japanese food company RE&S, which is behind established Japanese restaurants such as Kuriya and Ichiban Boshi, and five of the six restaurants here are operated by them.

Apart from the usual suspects such as Ichiban Sushi, Kuishin Bo and a Kuriya Japanese Fresh Fish Market, there are also two new outlets – teppanyaki joint Yaki Yaki Bo and ramen house Men Ichi. Each restaurant here has food items from Osaka.

At Kuishin Bo, for example, there is a stand serving takoyaki, or battered octopus balls, an Osaka speciality, and over at Yaki Yaki Bo, another Osaka dish, okonomiyaki, a savoury pancake filled with meat and seafood, is grilled before your eyes at one of the three large tables fitted with iron griddles.

Even the teppanyaki here is served Osaka style, on a piece of bread instead of the usual aluminum foil.

Ichiban Sushi, which has eight other outlets, will be introducing specialty items such as Osaka-style sushi (rice wrapped over the fish) and fugu (puffer fish) dishes next month.

I chose Yaki-Yaki Bo, teppanyaki Delight, because I was attracted by their Okonomiyaki on the menu.

We ordered 2 sets of Okonomiyaki (Prawn), which is a wrong move as 1 set is enough for a couple and you can also try something new, and another set of live prawn. (include the following side dish: salad, bean sprout, fried rice(Tamago/ginger) and chawanmushi)

Tamago fried rice

Chawanmushi, not in the usual style that I always ate.

This chef is call ah hua. He was doing our Okonomiyaki-s. He is very nice lo! After he finished cooking, he placed the food in front of me and said I can take photo. Haha… He told us that we shouldn’t ordered 2 sets of Okonomiyaki cos it is made out of flour, taste the same and will make us very full. He said good food only need to be ate once and we can order other item to try out also. It is my first time talking to chef in person !! Haha…

Ah hua chef just used his two “weapon” at hand to peel of the prawn’s skin within seconds man!! QIANG !!!

Our live prawn set !! It should be eat on the spot when it is still hot. By the time I ate it, it has already cold so it is not that nice.

As I previously quoted in the blog, the teppanyaki here is served Osaka style, on a piece of bread instead of the usual aluminum foil.

End of my 1st time trying specialty items from Osaka… Sayorana !!

Total damage: $53.08 (Live prawn set, $16.90 + 2 Ebi Okonomiyaki, $21.80 + Tamago rice, $2 + coke, $2.20 + Ice lemon tea, $2.20 + GST(7%) + Service charge(10%))

Thanks for noticin’ me

I dunno Eeyore is called Eeyore when I watching Winnie the Pooh show. I thought his name is grey donkey until I met Jaz. She is obsessed with Eeyore. Haha…

He is generally characterized as a pessimistic, gloomy, depressed, old grey stuffed donkey who is a friend of Winnie-the-Pooh. I guess he is the saddest cartoon character that I ever know. Even the eyebrow is in sad shape, eyes always look down like a very timid person who believe that he will end up with failures.

Eeyore’s “birthday” is May 10, 1971, the date when he was made.

Be strong, my girl. You can do it !!

Officially, now there is 2 botak in the gang. Today all the botak need to book in because it is the end of the holiday so the gang decided to meet before the botak went back Tekong again.

Meet my girls around 1:30pm at orchard after that. Finding a place to settle our haven eat anything breakfast-cum-lunch-cum-dinner’s stomach.

Saw the Duck menu outside one of the restaurant of level 5 when we are wondering around the newly build 5th level in Heeren. Of cos xiu will said something about it cos she LOVE me too much. “Duck, see, you can cook in different way lei!” !!!_^

Guess where are we finally settling in!?

Waiting for our turn….. Xiu & Bizi

Waraku is the answer… The food there is not bad, nothing fascinating, but because of the size they present, you will keep wow-ing about it. We dun mind visiting this restaurant again. Maybe I going to try the outlet at The Central.

Bizi: Katsu Curry Don – Pork Cutlet & Vegetables curry on rice. $12.80

Xiu: Katsu Curry – Pork Cutlet & Vegetables with curry soup noodles. $12.80

The super huge bowl that you can use for basin. It is really huge !!

Mine: Chige Nabe – Sliced pork & Kimchi & Vegetables cook with chige soup in hot pot $14.80

Shared: Okonomi Yaki – Japanese style pan cake in heating pan. $8.80

We helped xiu to left her number there as some of the service crew is quite cute !!!

Total damage: $80+

3 of us done our hair “highlight” in the no signboard shop in Far East Plaza. The shop is at level 3 facing the road of Far East. This is the first shop that we visited.

The boss is from china (the accent) while her staff, 2 female, are Singaporean. The hair is made of real human hair that imported from china. This is the first shop that we visited but decided to choose this shop to do our extension instead because the 2nd shop that we managed to find, the staff there had a very bad services and attitude, eating her noodles while talking to us and forbids us from touching the hair.Wa lau.

It is also located at level 3, although it has a bigger premise but it has a very bad attitude staff, china people also, and hair also imported from china also. So of cos we chose a shop that had a better attitude ma. The name of the shop started with V.

Xiu and I chose the same colour, reddish-purple, 6 strands for our 1st attempt while Bizi chose a golden colour with 5 strands. My hair was done by a newbie who I think just started to learn how to clip the “hair” onto customer. She keeping asking the boss and other staff if she had done it in the correct way. But overall, I managed to keep my hair intact with a few reddish hair. The colour is not overwhelming enough as we thought it would be so we agreed to do another extension before new year. We going to choose a very STUNNING colour!!!

Went back to BP from some more chilling. Saw this machine that Geeky Mei Mei got her camera so I also wanted to get one. But instead of a camera, it gave me a SOCCER football. What the F*** do I need a soccer ball for? I want CAMERA !!

SEE! Obviously the machine that I put my one dollar in is a camera machine while beside it is the football machine ma !! Wa lau. The football can “move” in between the machine lei.

A smiley face for ah xiu who left us at MAC to do her personal stuff at M1. So we ate all the fries and left 3 fries for her !! LOL…

Smile always…

“Photo shoot” of Geeky Mei Mei

I bluffed my student in the lab that Geeky Mei Mei is daughter !! C’mon, do I look like a mother of a going-to-be-3-years-old-this-coming-October?! Geeky Mei Mei is my neighbour’s youngest daughter whom happened that my youngest sister is best friend with my neighbour’s elder daughter.

The most I only look like a one-day nanny…

My ah gon is back in action

Posted by: zhuzhuyaya on: September 28, 2008

It finally reached the day where ah gon had the first book out and looked back, 2 weeks seem past very easily! I getting used of going home after work, digging into fridge for food to eat, cook maggie for dinner, thinking what to blog next, rot at home on weekend or bring geeky mei mei to mac for her fries on Sunday. Time really pass fast.

I reached ah gon’s place around 3.30pm as his father planned to get some yummy food at Tampines for him although he will only reached at Pasir Ris at around 5 plus. Soon, ah gon msg me that he already on the bus and everyone started to look out for the bus that might be his.

About 15 mins, three LKK shuttle buses came… One pool of green people just jumped out from the bus, carrying the same bag, seem having the same height and build. Just like a batch of clone people, keep jumping out of the bus. I could not recognize until ah gon slowly walked towards the direction of our car. Haha… Everyone started to smile even his ah ma, whose legs having problem also came to fetch him.

A new ah boy. Thinner and tanner

Everyone starts to laugh and shouted: “Ah boy so cute !!”, “Ah boy, this hair suit you!”, “Ah boy become more shuai”, “Ah boy…. “, blah blah blah… Questions were shooting all over the place. LOL…

His notes…

I looked so fair in the photo !!

Finally reached his sweet home. Had a quick bath before we headed to Bukit Timah to have his so called “Human food’. Ordered carrot cake, fried oyster, satays, chicken wing…

After a short nap at home, Wendy, Clement, me and ah gon went for a night snack at MAC.

My ah gon is back in action !!!

another shopping day

Posted by: zhuzhuyaya on: September 27, 2008

Having lunch at Far East. As both my sister and I were working, my sister always want to eat in the restaurant or something special whenever we have time to go out. Long john is not her option when we are in Far east. LOL…

Sparkling Lemonade – $3.90

My sister: Spicy LaLa Ramen – $7.90

Mine: Ocean seafood set – $13.90 (included rice and fried chicken)

Total damage : $30.25
The lemonade drink is nice. My sister was complaining that the ramen noodles is too little until she ate my rice. My only complain about the paper steamboat is that there’s too little ingredients. It only left a one layer cabbage when I only ate 1/2 crab meat (cos another 1/2 I dropped on the floor), 1 mushroom, a few sticks of golden needle mushroom, 3 or 4 LaLa, 2 types of veggie, 2 prawns and a few tofu. Yap !! Very pathetic ingredients inside the miso soup (You can choose tom yum as base).

Since we are in Far east, of cos, we will go to Hong Kong cafe to eat the durian pancake. This time my sister tried the Fragrant durian. Well, my sister said it taste just like coconut lo…

See that layer of durian !! @_@

Home sweet home…

why ah gon is a pig

Posted by: zhuzhuyaya on: September 24, 2008

I always call ah gon pig since we know each other. That’s why this blogspot call “zhuzhuyaya”. He is the pig and I am the duck. I dunno why I always call him the pig and only yesterday den I found the reason !! Haha.. I was seeing through my photos to check whether is there something that I have not posted yet; like gathering with Tony, Jerry, Yihong at Eski Bar in April, my poly graduation photo in May, Huiying’s 21st birthday in July, ah gon’s enlistment day in Sept etc… And I found out there’s numerous of photo of my ah gon with something in his mouth. LOL.. HE IS REALLY A PIG!!

Let me introduce you all, the KING OF PIG!!

There’s sure more photos on him with his food to post cos this Sunday is his first book out day and he had hungrily planned what to eat for his rest day, which is about 3 days before he book in. That’s the main reason why I cant slim down !! Hai…
